Kiosk 1/166 The Parade, Norwood SA 5067
I had previously visited Mascavado on Hutt Street and enjoyed the food there, so when I noticed their newer café setup just off The Parade in Norwood, I thought it was a good opportunity to drop in again and try something different. The cabinet was full of visually stunning pastries, and I ended up choosing the Strawberry and Cream Croissant, it definitely stood out with its piped cream, fresh strawberries, and a sprinkle of crushed pistachio. Service was quick and friendly, and the team behind the counter seemed genuinely welcoming. The space itself is modern, clean, and bright with plenty of indoor seating. It had a nice atmosphere with a steady stream of locals grabbing coffees and pastries, even on a weekday morning. As for the croissant, it looked fantastic and was generously topped, but the pastry itself was a little on the dry side. I suspect it may have been chilled for display, which sometimes affects the flakiness and texture. That said, the vanilla crème patissière and strawberries helped balance it out, still an enjoyable treat overall. At just over $11, it’s definitely a premium pastry, but you can see the effort that goes into the presentation and finish. The café is located opposite Coles, which makes it an easy stop if you’re in the area. I’d come back to try something different next time, maybe the matcha or one of their other offerings.
